What is Detoxification?

This is one of my favourite quotes. So much so, that I’ve used it as my tagline on all of my business stuff Because its 100% true! Most people I’ve met are so used to walking around thinking that feeling tired and sluggish is NORMAL, and it just blows my mind!

What is Detoxification?

Listen, I really don’t like using the word “detox”. It leads people to believe you have to do something drastic to your body to experience these profound results. I’ve heard of people doing crazy things like eating NO food for 10 days and just drinking liquids (which I’ll admit, I have done a couple of times back in the day). I’ve also tried protocols that had me running to the bathroom every half hour and I felt like total crap.

Our bodies actually detox itself Every. Single. Day. (If we allow it to  Yes you heard me  Our liver is our biggest detox organ and our bodies are constantly getting rid of nasty invaders and trying to clean up our system from any unhealthy/packaged/processed/sugary foods.

I don’t think anyone should ever take drastic measures as I mentioned above. You really only need to support your body’s natural process in order to feel your best! The problem is, its not often we actually give our body the proper tools and support to do so.

If you’re constantly reaching for deep fried foods, sugary treats, caffeine or carbohydrate rich foods, then you are definitely someone who needs to give your body a rest to get back on track. If we don’t allow our body to do what its SUPPOSED to do, things get backed up and you could experience bloating, gas, inconsistent bowel movements (you should be going 1-2 times a day. If not, then the toxins are being reabsorbed back into your system!), hormonal imbalances, fatigue, constant tiredness and the list goes on!

Detoxification is about resting, cleansing and nourishing the body from the inside out. By removing and eliminating toxins, then feeding your body with healthy nutrients, detoxifying can help protect you from disease and renew your ability to maintain optimum health.

Give your liver some love!

  • Your liver is your #1 detoxifying organ. It has over 500 functions!

  • It produces bile (which helps us excrete toxins), regulates carbohydrate metabolism, assists in hormone breakdown & detoxifies EVERYTHING!

Steps to maintaining good liver health:

  1. Ensure proper digestion and elimination

  2. Avoid environmental toxins/stressors

  3. Increase water and fiber intake

  4. Avoid excessive alcohol, unhealthy saturated fats (fried food) and refined sugar

  5. Ensure a healthy clean diet & appropriate supplementation
